Pastor Rick Mobilized the Church to Distribute Food and Hope to Thousands
With so many people unemployed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Pastor Rick rallied the staff and members of Saddleback Church to provide more than two million pounds of food to people in need through grocery distribution events at Saddleback campuses and pop-up food pantries throughout Southern California.
They also trained leaders of other churches to do the same. This is all part of the PEACE Plan mentoring program, which helps churches make an even greater impact in their communities.
One volunteer had the opportunity to pray with a woman whose husband lost his job early in the pandemic. Although the wife said the couple still believed in God, she told us they felt like he was too busy to worry about them. The volunteer shared with her God’s promise not to leave nor forsake them no matter what struggles they faced.
While the couple waited for their food, the husband made a phone call about a job opportunity and was offered the job on the spot. The husband, wife, and volunteer cried and prayed together as they thanked God for his provision.
People have come to faith in Christ at every distribution event. During the past few months, over 10,000 people have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior through this ministry!
