If you need God to do a reset in your life, you just have to ask him. And then you need to find people to support your reset.
You can’t do something as big as a life change on your own! If you could, you would—but you can’t, so you won’t. That’s because God has wired us so that we don’t get healed and whole until we get other people involved in our lives.
The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 4:10-12, “If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble . . . A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken” (NLT).
In other words, when you have the support of another person, you won’t be easily defeated. And a whole group of supporters is even better!
Anytime you make a change in your life, you’re going to make mistakes. You’re not perfect—none of us are. In your desire to live with purpose and become the person that God wants you to be, you’re going to fall. You need people in your life who are going to help you get back up and love you through it.
Community is God’s antidote to discouragement. Your small group or group of Christian friends will help you keep a right perspective. They can see what you can’t see. They can remind you of God’s truth.
Romans 12:5 says, “We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other” (NLT). In the family of God, you belong to me, and I belong to you. The people in your church and Christian community are your brothers and sisters. The family of God will last even longer than your biological family—it will last forever!
You’re going to need the encouragement of other believers as God does a reset on your life. Find your people. It will take courage and vulnerability, and if those feel in short supply right now, ask God for help. He will help you do all things that he has called you to do.
