God’s Power Always Protects You

Hope matters.

In a world that often looks bleak, we need to understand that God’s best is yet to come.

We find five reasons in 1 Peter 1 why we can have hope no matter what’s going on in our lives. I’ve given you the first three of those reasons in recent devotionals.

  • God chose us before we chose him.
  • God always treats us with grace and mercy.
  • God has secured our future.
  • Fourth, God’s power will protect us. The Bible tells us, “And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation” (1 Peter 1:5a NLT).

Let’s just be honest. Sometimes we’re in situations where we feel hopeless, helpless, and powerless.

But the truth is, that’s a lie. You’re not hopeless, helpless, or powerless when you have God in your life.

God tells us his mighty power will protect us

Have you ever seen signs in front of houses that say “Protected by a security system”? We should do the same. We need little signs that say “Protected by God.”

The word “protect” in the verse above literally means garrison. It means we’re continuously guarded by God’s power.

God is watching over you every moment of the day, just as a bodyguard would. Everything in life is Father-filtered — even the hard things caused by our sin or others’ sin that God can still use for his good.

What do you have to do in all of this? It’s really simple: You trust God.
