A Word From Pastor Rick

Dear Friend,

The COVID-19 (coronavirus) crisis is unprecedented in our lifetime. The fear and uncertainty of this pandemic can be crippling. That’s why it is more important than ever to seek the hope found in God’s Word.

To live with hope in the middle of a crisis like the coronavirus, you have to change your focus, shift your perspective, and live in light of eternity. In the Bible, Revelation 21:4 says “Then God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death, and no more mourning, and no more crying, and no more pain, for the old order of things will pass away.”

This is not the end of the story.

Trials are a fact of life, but they don’t have to crush us. God will use trials to draw us closer to himself when we cooperate with him.

Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 1:8–10: “We were really crushed and overwhelmed . . . and saw how powerless we were to help ourselves; but that was good, for then we put everything into the hands of God, who alone could save us . . . and he did help us” (TLB).

I’ve seen these verses play out over and over in my life as God has used painful trials to draw me closer to himself. I’ve discovered that real and lasting hope comes only when we focus on Christ and not our troubles. He is our ever-present, unchanging source of hope!

Part of the reason trials draw us closer to God is that he uses them to help others. In fact, I’m grateful you haven’t let the trials in your own life stop you from helping people. I hear stories all the time from Daily Hope supporters who, despite great personal heartache, continue to give generously so together we can share the hope of Jesus with those who desperately need it.

The fact is, God is using you to change lives all around the world through your partnership with this ministry.

Please continue to let us know how God is using Daily Hope in your life. I’m so encouraged by your letters. Please write me at [email protected]. I’m excited about what God will do going forward as we partner together for Jesus’ sake!
